House rules

Seven rules that keep real trading slow, small and boring — exactly how a learner should meet it.

  1. 1The account is the parent'sEvery real order is placed by the adult, on the adult's account, with the child explaining the reasoning.
  2. 2Never more than the agreed riskOne trade never risks more than the limit set in parent controls. If the numbers don't fit the limit, the trade doesn't happen.
  3. 3No plan, no tradeTrend, level, invalidation point and pound risk are said out loud before entry — or we pass.
  4. 4Two losses and we're doneTwo losing trades ends the session. So does any attempt to win money back.
  5. 5Never around a surpriseNo trades in the minutes around a scheduled news release. Watch it on the simulator instead.
  6. 6Money we can afford to loseOnly money that could vanish without changing anything in the household. Never savings, never borrowed.
  7. 7We talk about lossesEvery loss gets a sentence: what was the plan, and what actually happened. Then we move on.
