Support & Resistance — Lesson Plan

KS3 (ages 11–14) · 55 minutes

Learning objectives

  • • Define support as a floor and resistance as a ceiling.
  • • Mark support and resistance levels on a chart.
  • • Explain why a broken level often flips role.

Key vocabulary

support · resistance · breakout · bounce · level

Starter

Bouncing ball demo: a ball on the floor (support) and a hand above (resistance). Ask what happens if the floor gives way.

Main activities

10 min

Model marking two levels on a live practice chart.

20 min

Pupils complete the Support & Resistance lessons and quizzes.

15 min

Level hunt: pupils mark levels on the demo chart and explain one to a partner.

Discussion questions

  • • Why do so many traders watch the same level?
  • • What is the difference between a bounce and a breakout?
  • • How could a level trick you (a fakeout)?

Assessment

  • • Marks two valid levels with reasons.
  • • Quiz average of 70% or higher.

Homework

Draw a chart of your own week's mood with a support level and a resistance level.

Safety note

Levels are zones, not exact prices — avoid teaching false precision.
